How do you make costumes like this? I am just curious because I would LIKE to cosplay Blix from Legend....which is rather similar in a lot of ways.....but I am really daunted by it because it seems like such a step up from anything I have ever done.

Your costume looks really great.

Thanks a lot.
This was actually the first costume I ever built, so I guess you should be able to do so as well. Just don't be afraid of working with new materials like leather and metal.
Designing leather armor is basically like tailoring, just a little rougher. Metal parts are more tricky, I strongly recommend building every armor piece from card board first, to find out the exact shape you are going for.
One of the most important aspects of building a costume like this is making it look dirty and old. Aging is a huge aspect. You will need a lot of rust, dark colors and shoe polish.

Good luck with that.

Thanks for the tips! Although I am most concerned about the mask/face part....

Have you ever seen Legend? Blix is an interesting goblin character. He actually has feathers on his costume and a raven skull necklace(pretty sure they are raven skulls). He also has interesting hair and really tall pointy ears. A lot about his features and outfit are pointy actually.

This is him: 31.media.tumblr.com/49f0e3ae7d…

Another one: 31.media.tumblr.com/6b3bacaf5f…

I wish there were a few more high res gifs and pictures of him around though for reference and such. It's an old movie(from 1985). The character is male but the person in the costume is actually a female. I'm quite a bit taller than the goblins in this movie but oh well. lol. The actress who plays him is 4'11" and I'm 5'8" so nearly a foot taller....I can't change how tall I am though. My boyfriend is shorter than me and his mother is actually 4'11" like Alice Playten(the actress in the costume).

Don't bother about the height. According to Tolkien I am more than twice as big as an orc.
Building a mask will take a lot of time and everybody seems to use a different technique.
Here is the website of a friend of mine, so you can see what's possible: www.padubrins.com/gallery/

The orcs in the films were taller though weren't they?

Anyway, thanks for the link.
